Field Trip to Brevard Zoo! November 20, 2009

My mom has been to the Brevard zoo at least four times for class field trips. For some reason we have never made it to the Brevard zoo as a family. So once mom found out the next field trip was to Brevard Zoo she signed me up right away. On the big Disney bus heading to the zoo! I am sitting next to my really good friend Aiden. We have been friends since we were in the two year old class room.
We finally made it! What a long bus ride! Thank goodness we got to watch a movie on the way!

Mom combined her class with mine so we could spend some time together as well. Mom made it clear to everyone that after we used the potty we were heading to Africa so we could feed the giraffes. I think my mom was more excited about feeding the giraffes than the rest of us. Once we reached our destination, mom bought giraffe a bunch of giraffe food so everyone could enjoy the experience of feeding this unique animal.
There are not many zoos that allow people to feed giraffes. This is one of the highlights to visiting the Brevard zoo. Here I go 1, 2, and 3 my goodness look at that enormous tongue. I can do this!

I liked it so much I fed this giraffe four more time. What a great experience and I can't wait to come again!
Next stop, the petting zoo. What a great place to get up close and personal with the animals. I spent some time brushing this deer.
My mom and her classmates cheered me on so I would build up enough courage to touch this huge iguana. At first I kept telling the zoo keeper that I only wanted to brush her. After being told that I could not use the brush on this creature I stuck my little finger out and touched it really quick. Every one's cheers scared me so much I went running right to my mom. She was so proud of me for being so brave.
Taking a train ride around the zoo.
Anther great feature the zoo has to offer is feeding the birds. I have done this a few times before and am not a big fan of it. As you can see by my face I did not enjoy seeing all the birds around my teacher.

I wanted to take a few minutes and show everyone some of the cool November projects I did with my students.

What are you Thankful For? Every year our school has a Thanksgiving Pot Luck and we used this as one of our table center pieces.
Each of the students made his or her own table decorations. This is just a sample that I have had for a few years. The table decorations the children made this year turned out SUPER! I wish I would of taken a picture of all of them.
Every year I send home a What Are You Thankful For Feather. The goal is for the family to work together to show what makes their family special. This is one of my favorite activities and the board always gets a million compliments.
We are learning about AB, patterns in math so I the class decorated Corn - y patterns.

Reindeer Romp Wed November 18 2009

I mentioned in a earlier post, I am working hard to update the family blog and trying to remember all the details can be challenging. So challenging that my friend Shannon had to remind me that the reason my son was not in any of the photos below is because he was in Vegas with his daddy for the fire fighter combat challenge.

Even though I live in the Sunshine State of Florida, there are still a lot of things to do during the Winter months. Mrs. Shannon and Wyatt invited my mom and I to the Reindeer Romp. Mom nor I have ever been so we thought we would check it out, since we were having a girls week! What other way to celebrate the enchanted winter wonderland than attending the Orlando Museum of Art for the Council of 101's Reindeer Romp during the Festival of Trees holiday tradition. Great idea Mrs. Shannon. We had so much fun and can't wait to go again next year!

Every place I go I can't walk away without having my face painted.

While I was having my face painted Wyatt was already busy at the arts and craft table. Once I joined him I decided to decorate a Christmas tree with him.

Look at all the trees people decorated.

Can you guess which one is mine? I feel horrible that I can't remember which tree is Sarah's? I guess this is what I get for being so behind with the blog.

I am sending a email to Santa. By the way Santa did email Sarah back and I have the letter in her scrapbook!

This was my moms favorite tree. I think someone bought the entire set for a couple thousand dollars.

Before calling it a night I have one last stop! I certainly can not leave without saying good bye to Hello Kitty.
